So as not to bias the poll (as if anyone cared about what I thought), I'll weigh in later.

My review will be up in the next day or so...but I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Definitely worth the wait!

And my insanely long review (3200 words!) is now up. Any other thoughts?

26 views, only four votes, and just Quinn and me in the discussion? Dang.

It's certainly a thorough review, Quinn. icon_thumbsup.gif

I'd point out that we have a partial answer about old Smoky. Obviously it's the same entity that has taken on Locke's appearance. It's also quite likely that it's been other back-from-the-dead encounters (though not necessarily all). Given Jacob's mentioning a loophole, we can assume that Smoky is also the man in black who voiced his desire to kill Jacob back when the statue was still whole. We still don't quite know who/what that is, though. Nor do we know more about the nature of Jacob.

One question I have is why Smoky is still in Locke form? Sure, you wouldn't have an actor like Terry O'Quinn and not use him, but beyond that, why? Why not revert to man-in-black, since that seemed to be his "natural" human-form state?

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Jacob has inhabited Sayid. This wouldn't, though, be the same as Smoky/Locke, since John's actual body is splayed out on the beach.

There's one point on which you and I differ, Ben. I don't feel sorry for him in the least. It's about time he found out what it's like to be manipulated and tossed aside. And he hasn't learned, either. He was all to willing to lie to Richard about what happened inside the statue.

Good pickup about Miles and Sayid. I'd noticed that myself. He knows something that he's not ready to let on.

If you need evidence that the two realities (TPTB are calling the shifting focus "flash-sideways") will impact each other. Juliette was going to tell Sawyer, "it worked." The only think I can think of is that as she verged on death she knew that the other time line had been created.

I thought the same thing, but I didn't mention it. I'm starting to wonder if the smoke is his actual form. And if that's the case, one human form wouldn't be any different than another.

I also thought of this religious connection. People are saying that Jacob is God and the Man in Black is the Devil. If that's the case, the smoke monster is rather serpentine...wouldn't you say?

Yeah, that's the one thing that's holding me back from confidence that Jacob inhabited Sayid. Although, since Jacob is a more caring person, he might simply be bringing Sayid back to life (and maybe sharing the body) - instead of simply stealing/copying it like the Man in Black.

Ah, yes. I forgot about that, but I remember thinking that at the time.

This was so worth the wait!

I've now watched this twice in two nights. Something I don't usually do for anything.

More than ever, Flocke/Smokey/MIB scares the crap out of me. Who is he? Why is on the island? Where is home - the temple, off the island, hell, another planet, the beginning of time, the end of time????

We know he can take on the persona of dead people, including Yemi, Alex, etc, but I'm not entirley convinced that all of the apparitions of Christian are Smokey. Whereas Yemi and Alex were used to judge Eko and Ben, Christain seems to be more of an island guide directing key figures to help the island (or maybe that is just a ploy by Smokey, I don't know)

I agree that Ben is just as bad as he was before. Sure, he was/is still shocked at the revelation that Locke was in fact the Smoke Monster, but rather than baulk at that he uses this information to manipulate his way into Smokey's good graces - at least I see glimpses of this coming through. Smokey of course wouldn't care what Ben does as long as it suits his purposes of returning home.

The alternate universe - great concept. I feel that this will actually play into the 'core' universe in some way and not just be a 'what if' scenario. Remember as Juliet said through Miles, "It worked"

I could go on ad nauseum about this episode and Lost in general. Too fricken brilliant.

One thing I want to highlight though - the ankh in the guitar - fantastic! The growing nods to Ancient Egypt (and other cultures) astounds me. Along with the element of time travel and paralell universes, the creators have ticked every box in my head.

Stargate SG-1 is so going to be toppled from my No. 1 spot.... cool.gif

I think the "he's actually Satan" idea is picking up steam. I wonder if "Heaven" is his home, since that's where the Devil believes he belongs.

But the Temple is probably where's immediately going to go. That's why the Others were barricading the place.

If Christian isn't the monster, then I think he is working for/with him. Because Christian (or his form, if you will) is the one who told Locke to move the Island (which allowed Smokie to get Locke's body), he's the one who started Jack's craziness to get back to the Island (which brought the body back), and helped convince Ben to kill Jacob.

That's too much "helpful to the monster" advice to be ignored.

Yeah, I wonder if Ben is going to try and capitalize from his spot as Smokey's number two. He seemed like a beaten man earlier in the episode, but he was fine being #2 to Jacob - would he accept the same job as Smokie's #2?

Not a bad ep, a little confusing, so I hope they tie it up nicely.
Haven't watched 6 seasons to have it end with an open ending.

I want to know who Smokey, Jacob and Richard really are.
Especially Richard. I always wondered what his role was. He doesn't seem to age and he plays a part in Smokies plans.

Couple of things:

I prefer to call them "flashpoints" over the apparently official term "flash-sideways." I'm still not convinced it's as simple as an alternate reality, but then, I keep saying that.

I loved seeing Cindy again. Finally! The Others she actually ended up with! Can't wait until Richard Alpert's origin is finally revealed.
