Networking help

Recommended Posts

Guest Istari

I have a desktop and a Laptop. Both are running versions of windows Vista. The Desktop is connected to the modem via a cable, and the laptop is wireless.

Whatever I try I can't get the two machines networked, or evenget them to recognise each other.

Any ideas?

My computers are networked through the use of physical cables that connect to a router, thus sharing the same Internet connection. If your computers are not physically linked but using the same Internet connection, I would think they should recognize one another even if one is wireless. Have you tried running the Windows Network Setup Wizard? I have Windows XP but I suspect there is something similar in Vista. Also, any firewalls and antivirus software can interfere with networking, in my experience.

Thanks Forst.

I had to disable the password protection on both PC and LT, and set certain folders to shared.

No I've got it working.

Cheers
