  1. Understandable. I'll still be posting stuff as it comes out, regardless. For better or for worse. Case in point, we now have a view of the Shenzhou's transporter room: Which makes absolutely no sense. Why completely redesign the look of transporter tech? I get that this is older tech and the transporter room aboard the Discovery will look different, but we've seen much older tech and it still looks more like a traditional Trek transporter than this. At least the phasers look TOS-like.
  2. And now EW has a pic of Jason Isaacs as Captain Gabriel Lorca, along with a glimpse of the Discovery's bridge. It's not much, but enough to see that the look is a bit different than the Shinzou. No sparing the lens flares in either case, unfortunately. There's a larger pic at the EW link.
  3. And from this article: http://trekcore.com/blog/2017/06/producers-divulge-star-trek-discovery-delay-details/ (which itself quotes from an article on Entertainment Weekly), we have yet to really see the look of the show going forward. The bridge of the Discovery is not the bridge of the much older Shinzou. So does that mean we'll be getting the Apple Store interior for Discovery? I have no idea. But for whatever reason, TPTB have chosen not to show us what we'll be seeing past the initial episode. More at the link regarding production delays.
  4. It is, but it's probably a mix of being the only way to get the series on air before December and an attempt to get people to subscribe for more than one month of binging the series.
  5. Yes, I have every season of SG1 on DVD in a drawer somewhere, but I haven't watched an episode in years. I didn't really have high hopes for Emmerich and Devlin's reboot of the franchise, but at least it would have been something. Even that's fallen by the wayside. I suspect MGM will eventually do something with it, but who knows when.
  6. Anyone else remember Stargate Universe? I do, but barely. It was quite different in tone than SG1 and SGA, and it only got two seasons before being canceled. That S2 finale ended with a cliffhanger which will finally get resolved, after a fashion, with a comic series from publisher, American Mythology. The original series writers aren't "heavily involved," so I doubt this is what we would have gotten with an actual S3, but who knows? https://www.gateworld.net/news/2017/06/stargate-comics-return-sgu-launching-this-month/ The same publisher also has an ongoing Stargate: Atlantis series, if you're interested in what Sheppard & Co. are up to. Now that I think about it, didn't that end with them landing the station on Earth? Where do you go from there? I guess I'd have to read to find out.
  7. Progress, maybe?
  8. I'm trying to diagnose an issue forst and I have had. We've each visited the site and had someone else show up as being logged in, including, I assume, their chosen theme, rather than ours. Forcing the cache to reload shows me logged in as me, but I shouldn't have to do that. This started after I brought the archived OL back online, so please not whether you've visited that site. Thanks for your help!
  9. And then I got served a version of a thread that was meant for a site visitor, but the rest of the board loaded correctly for me today. Methinks we won't be staying with Bluehost once our year is up.
  10. Wow. I was never a chatter, but I do recognize some of the names.
  11. I'm siding with DSC. Leaving aside that if it turns out badly, it may be as well received as an STD, 7here's no precedent for including the "Star Trek" in the abbreviation in a series (though I suppose it's been done with the Into Darkness and Beyond films). DIS would follow VOY's convention, but it's a bit too Disney-reminiscent for my taste. I also don't care enough to kick anyone off the board for using the "wrong" abbreviation.
  12. Odd. It's been working for me consistently for the past week or so.
  13. Hey.
  14. Congratulations! And from the Amazon bio, it appears it's not your first book, either.
  15. I wasn't blown away, but I didn't think it was terrible. The uniforms look like a cross between Enterprise and the JJ-verse's USS Franklin, which, meh. I agree that the Klingons look ridiculous and we still have no idea what the series is about. I do hope the acting come across as less wooden when seen in context. It didn't get my hopes up, but it doesn't fill me with dread.
  16. So there was more to come today at the CBS upfronts. The series order has been increased from 13 to 15 episodes. Also, there was a clip or trailer of some sort shown: I can only assume the trailer will be released at some point. Comments on twitter indicate that the clips shown look "gorgeous" and "slick." CBS seems to have spared no expense in the production values of the bits shown at upfronts, anyway.
  17. It's apparently a session caching issue on the part of our hosting company. Yesterday the site worked properly for me, and I'd hoped they'd gotten it resolved. I've mentioned the problem to them, and they've said they're "aware" of it. No timeline for when we can expect a resolution. If it doesn't get fixed soon, I guess I'll be looking for a new host. It'll just be a pain in the ass to move the site.
  18. So I'd heard we'd finally get our first official look at the new series today. It was true. http://ew.com/tv/2017/05/17/star-trek-discovery-cast-photo/?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter A single still photograph. The shot was taken on location in Jordan, according to the article and shows Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham. They're not in uniform, and the only hint that the shot comes from a Trek series is the possibility of an old-school communicator and tricorder in Martin-Green's possession. Beyond that, there's zero context given for what we've been shown. So, yeah, whoopee.
  19. Yes, anything that was set in motion prior to the destruction of the Kelvin should still be in motion. The JJ-verse films are even officially considered to be a part of the "Kelvin timeline." V'ger and the Probe should both be on their way, but it would take a while for them to get here. If we were to take TOS as an example, I believe TMP was set 5 years after the end of the original 5-year mission. I'm doing this from memory, so I may be mistaken. If Beyond is 3 years into their 5-year mission, that puts V'ger 7 years from Earth. I don't know the in-universe time between TMP and TVH, but there were another 7 years between those films being released. If the topics do get revisited, I'd bet it'll be in the comics or in novels. The uproar over revisiting Khan has probably convinced TPTB to stay away from re-imagining any characters or events from the original series or films if they can help it. It would be interesting to see another take, though. I can't imagine this crew having the patience to watch V'ger on the viewer for half an hour at a time.
  20. I hear you, though it's not because of my admitted TOS purism. It's more because CBS has simply sucked the enthusiasm out of me with all the delays and behind-the-scenes turmoil. I really was looking forward to it when it was first announced, considering the names that were attached. Then came the fact that it would only be streaming, the delays, Brian Fuller's "stepping back" turned out to be a complete disassociation from the project, more delays, etc. Here we are, months past the expected premiere when it was announced, and all we have is a time period, a cast list with extremely vague character descriptions, and the most fleeting of glimpses from the set. Principle photography for several episodes has to be in the can by now. Post production has to be far enough along to at least produce a decent trailer (Thor: Ragnarok doesn't get released until November, but we got a full trailer for that in April!), but no. Nearly radio silence. So I've gone from excited to meh.
  21. Our web host is having caching issues. If you're not seeing current content or, worse, you're seeing someone else's username as being logged in, try this: Windows: ctrl + F5 Mac/Apple: Apple + R or command + R Linux: F5
  22. A few more actors have been announced for the series, and Moonves this week described Discovery as being on tap this fall. That's more optimistic than what we've been hearing. I'll still wait to see it before I believe it.
  23. True. Lots of names I don't even really remember.
  24. Difficult to say. I don't recall the El Aurian on DS9, but Soran didn't exhibit any powers beyond being long lived. The El Aurian's didn't collectively have the ability to save themselves from the Nexus. I suppose it's possible that Guinan wasn't herself and actual El Aurian. I believe Q referred to her as an Imp and told Picard that she wasn't what she seemed. We never got to see whether other El Aurians could sense disturbances in the timeline like Guinan did in Yesterday's Enterprise.
